History of Our Materials

18 Karat Gold

18-karat gold means that the piece is composed of 75% pure gold and 25% of other metals such as silver or copper, which are added to provide greater strength and durability.

Pure gold (24K) is too soft for everyday use, which is why 18K is used in fine jewelry, as it offers the ideal balance between purity, value, and structural firmness.

When a piece of jewelry is marked “750” or “750 Fine,” it indicates that it contains 750 parts of pure gold for every 1000 parts of total metal. This numbering is the international standard that certifies its authenticity and quality.

18K gold maintains a more intense and natural color than lower categories such as 14K or 10K, and at the same time retains its value better over time. For this reason, it is the standard used in fine jewelry in Europe and Latin America.

Colors of 18K Gold

18-karat gold can be found in different shades without losing its 75% purity. The difference in color is achieved by combining metals in the remaining 25% of the alloy.

Yellow Gold:

It is the most traditional and classic tone. It is obtained by combining pure gold with silver and copper in balanced proportions. It maintains the most natural and warm color of gold.

White gold:

It is created by mixing gold with metals such as palladium or nickel to achieve a lighter, more modern tone. In many cases, it is coated with rhodium to give it greater shine and a luminous finish.

Rose Gold:

It is obtained by increasing the proportion of copper in the alloy, which gives it its characteristic warm and romantic tone.

In all cases, the purity remains 18K. What changes is only the tone, not the quality or value of the gold.

Natural Emeralds

The emeralds we use in our pieces are 100% Colombian, carefully selected for their authenticity, color intensity and tonal balance.

The emerald belongs to the beryl family and gets its characteristic green color from the presence of chromium and vanadium in its composition. On the Mohs scale, it has a hardness of 7.5 to 8, making it suitable for fine jewelry, although it requires care due to its natural internal structure.

Colombia is internationally recognized as the leading producer of high-quality emeralds, standing out for their intense and deep green color.

Each stone is unique. Its value lies in its origin, natural composition, and individual characteristics, making it a prized gem in fine jewelry.

Value of the Emerald

The value of an emerald depends not only on its color, although this is the most determining factor. Several gemological criteria are evaluated:

Color: hue, saturation, and intensity. Deep, vivid, and uniform greens are the most valuable.

Clarity: presence and distribution of natural inclusions known as “garden”. These are part of its identity, but it is analyzed that they do not excessively affect transparency.

Cut: a good cut maximizes shine and highlights color.

Weight in carats: the larger the size with good quality, the greater the value.

Origin: Colombian emeralds are considered a world reference for their chromatic purity.

Treatments: the type and level of improvement (such as traditional oils) also influences their price.

Zircons

Zircons are highly luminous stones, renowned for their intense brilliance and excellent light refraction. Their crystalline structure allows for precise cuts that enhance their clarity and generate defined, uniform sparkles.

They are durable, stable, and versatile, making them an ideal choice for delicate details, inlays, and pavé designs. Thanks to their transparency and variety of shades, they easily adapt to different styles and compositions in fine jewelry.

Its main function is to provide light, contrast and visual balance within the design of each piece.

Natural Gems

Natural gemstones are stones formed by geological processes over thousands or millions of years. Each one exhibits unique variations in color, veining, inclusions, and transparency, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike.

Their internal characteristics are part of their identity and reflect their origin in nature. These characteristics are not considered defects, but rather traits inherent to their natural formation.

They are used in delicate and personalized designs, providing texture, depth and an organic character that distinguishes each piece.

Pearls

Pearls are organic gems formed inside mollusks, where successive layers of nacre are carefully developed to give rise to their characteristic soft and deep luster, known as luster.

Sourced from controlled processes in specialized aquatic environments, these pearls maintain their natural composition and retain the qualities that distinguish them: subtle luminosity, delicate texture, and unique variations in shape and size.

Each pearl may present slight irregularities inherent to its formation, considered part of its authenticity and natural beauty.

In jewelry, they bring balance, elegance and a timeless character that transcends trends.
